These students got to have lunch with Mrs. Eldred and Mr. Pettiette. They discussed the wonderful book The Oldest Student about Mary Walker who learned to read when she was 116! One of Ms. Walker's famous quotes was: "You're never to old to learn."

To better communicate with parents, staff, and the community we will begin posting a COVID-19 Report at the end of each week instead of daily call outs. The report will include the number of active cases on each campus, the type of active case, and the positivity rate for the previous week. Probable close contact notices will continue to be sent daily as cases are reported to notify parents. We want to encourage all staff, students, and parents to review the QISD Health Response Protocol as this is updated regularly. Thank you all for being flexible and understanding during this time. Please contact your child's campus if you have questions.

Quitman Elementary School has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year! Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more. Our Read-a-thon starts Monday September 20th 2021. About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress. We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope EVERYONE participates. Thanks so much, Quitman Elementary School
