School Closure Update: 10/29/24
Quitman ISD has been made aware that the boil water notice for the City of Quitman will be lifted today, Tuesday, October 29th.
All classes and activities will resume as usual Wednesday, October 30th. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
School Closure Update 10/28/2024:
Quitman ISD will be closed again tomorrow, October 29, due to the water boil notice issued for the City of Quitman. Please note that extracurricular activities will continue as scheduled, but we recommend reaching out to your child’s coach or sponsor to confirm any possible adjustments.
At this time, we anticipate resuming classes on Wednesday, October 30. We appreciate your understanding and patience, and we will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

Due to the ongoing boil water notice for the City of Quitman, and the need to ensure safe food preparation, there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, October 28th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

We have been informed that the City of Quitman is currently experiencing an issue with the main waterline, affecting the water supply to our campuses. City officials are working diligently to resolve the problem. In response to this situation, we will dismiss early at 2:30 pm for the school district. Buses will run at 2:30 pm. Parents/Guardians, please notify your child's campus if you need to change transportation arrangements as soon as possible. Thank you,
Week at a Glance for the week of October 21st 🐾
At approximately 2:45 PM on October 18th, teachers and students heard what was believed to be gunshots. In an abundance of caution, all staff and students were immediately directed to return to the building, and a secure lockdown was initiated. The Quitman Police Department was promptly notified and responded swiftly.
After a thorough investigation, Quitman PD confirmed that the gunshots were not in close proximity to any school facility. As a result, the campuses have been taken off the secure lockdown.
There was no immediate threat to the school. We want to extend our gratitude to our staff, students, and law enforcement for their calm and proactive response in ensuring everyone's safety.
Quitman ISD will hold a public meeting at 4:15pm on Thursday, October 10th, at the JH/HS library. The purpose of this meeting is review and discuss District SHAC.

Please be advised, at 3:50 pm Today, Wednesday September 25 an ambulance was dispatched to the elementary in response to an employee who had a medical emergency. The situation is stable and first responders are on scene. Thank you.

Notice: 9/16/24
The Elementary principal issued a secure alert today, September 16th, at approximately 12:45 pm. This was due to two students reporting they saw a suspicious person near the playground. The staff investigated, and law enforcement responded. In this investigation, it is clear that there was, in fact, no suspicious individual or threat. The secure status has been closed, and the elementary campus is operating normally. In an abundance of caution, both the JH/HS campuses were placed on a secure as well. That has been closed, and all campuses are operating as usual.
There was NO threat or emergency at any campus at Quitman ISD. Don't hesitate to contact your child's campus if you have any further questions.
