Today’s Spotlight is shining on…. Mrs. Goodman!
Mrs. Goodman takes a great deal of time and effort to make our bulletin boards look awesome!! We appreciate all you do to make QJH a fun and informative place to be. Thank you, Mrs. Goodman!!
QJH watches the movie ScreenAgers to help our students understand the importance of a healthy balance between our digital world and in person life activities.
QISD will be closed on Friday, February 14th for a scheduled Staff Development Day. Classes will resume as scheduled on Monday, February 17th.
We are getting our STEM on in 8th grade ELA today!
We have divided the classroom into East and West as a representation to the Berlin Wall that divided Gerta and her family in our class novel A Night Divided.
The students are collaborating and designing a pulley system based on what the character Gerta used in the novel. They have to create and record their findings along with completing a Plot Diagram and also a Novel Analysis!
We would like to wish all of you a Happy Valentine’s Day today since we won’t be with you tomorrow. May you always know you are loved!!
IFly Pictures!
Tonight is the final opportunity to attend the Mandatory Parent Meeting for those trying out for cheerleader. The meeting will be in the Library starting at 5:30 pm.
Some of Mrs. Hipp’s STEM students faced a BIG challenge today at IFly. Students were tasked with a high school level STEM activity where they had to predict their terminal velocity in IFly’s wind tunnel. The IFly instructor recorded their actual terminal velocity & then students had to compare the two values to see how close their prediction was. No doubt students sharpened their #Math & #Science learning, today! 🤨🧐
A special thank you to Coach Scott for driving the bus today and to Ms. Barnett for helping to chaperone the learning with Mrs. Hipp.
Today’s Spotlight is shining on…. Mr. Linz
Mr. Linz’ fellow teachers appreciate his encouraging words for students. “Everytime we have some kind of competition whether sports, UIL, OAP, anything the kids compete in...Mr. Linz sees the students in the hallway and tells them congratulations and what a great job they did, or how proud he is of them. He gives them high fives or a thumbs up! The kids get excited at his efforts and it makes them smile."
Thank you Mr. Linz for being a ray of sunshine to our campus!! Keep shining!!
Now, who else has the Bulldog Spirit? Let’s see it QJH!!
Just a reminder to those trying out for cheerleader: Mandatory parent meeting will be either tonight (Tuesday Feb 11) or tomorrow (Wednesday Feb 12). Meeting will begin promptly at 5:30 in the JH/HS library. You only need to attend one of the meetings, but you MUST attend one to be eligible for tryouts.
No school Friday, February 14 for Staff Development Day. Enjoy your long weekend!
We want to wish good luck to our boys’ basketball teams in their District Tournament in Grand Saline Thursday.

SCREENAGERS is a documentary that explores the impact of screen technology on kids and offers parents and families proven solutions that work.
Today’s Spotlight is shining on…. Mrs. Ashley Veach
Mrs. Veach and all of our decorators , including staff and students, did a wonderful job making our Valentine’s Day Dance another successful hit!!

Students in Mrs. Hipp's 6th Grade Reading class, stepped up to a STEM challenge in correlation with the novel, Number The Stars, this week. Students were presented with the driving question, "Can you construct a basket with a secret compartment that will hide a fabric swatch?" The material list included: 10 Large Index cards, 8 small index cards, a piece of fabric, tape, and scissors. Students could use only the materials given to them and had to work against a time constraint of 30 minutes. They logged their design ideas and engineering data into a STEM project journal.
The inventions were quite impressive!
