Quitman's Proud Blue Band recently held its annual candy sale. Bands students from grades 6-12 sold “World’s Finest Chocolate” bars for $1 each. Junior High students paved the way with the top three sellers. Sixth grader Ashlyn Stanly sold the most candy bars, selling 480. Seventh grader Brock Alvarez was second with 420 candy bars sold. Rounding out the top three sellers was sixth grader Sharon Ramirez, who sold 360 bars. These students got to pick from a short list of prizes. Ashlyn chose a tablet as her prize and Sharon and Brock chose to receive televisions.
The funds raised from the sales go towards buying band students meals while attending competitions and paying for other needs throughout the year.
Up next for the Quitman Proud Blue Band is their percussion concert on Monday, April 25th, at 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium. You can also catch all of the bands from beginner through high school at the spring concert on May 12th at 7 p.m.
