Quitman ISD was awarded the coveted "Coins for Kids" trophy on Monday, 9/12, for their efforts to raise funds for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). CASA is a non-profit organization, with volunteers who advocate for children both in court, and outside the courtroom while the child is in foster care.
Last year, CASA challenged 22 schools across Smith, Wood and Van Zandt counties to participate in their "Coins for Kids" campaign. All campuses at QISD stepped up to the plate and raised over $3000 during the week of April 25th - April 29th, making QISD the top fundraiser. Donations from this campaign will go towards helping young people in this area.
