Elementary students celebrated the National Education Association's "Read Across America" event today by dressing up as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters and listening to "Celebrity Guest Readers." Quitman Elementary joins schools across the country today celebrating reading by dressing up and reading books in order to promote excitement and challenges to young readers.
"Celebrity Guest Readers" came from all across QISD. This year's readers were Superintendent Rhonda Turner, Assistant Superintendent Christopher Mason, Curriculum Director Dana Hamrick, Elementary Librarian Michael Pettiette, Elementary Counselor June Sims, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent CJ Luttrell, Quitman Elementary Assistant Principals Ashley Day and Lance Morrow, and Website Administrator Carley Tucker. Each guest reader picked out a Dr. Seuss book and visited at least one classroom, reading to the the students.
