Due to the continued winter weather, Quitman ISD will be closed today, Tuesday, January 31. There will be no extracurricular activities and campuses will be closed. Thank you and stay safe.


Due to the threat of inclement weather, QISD will have a late start tomorrow, Tuesday, January 31. Classes will begin at 10:00 AM. Teachers should report to school at 9:30. Buses will begin running 2 hours later. Campus buildings will open for students at 9:15.


Please note the following game change updates:
--No JV games tomorrow.
--Varsity Girls will play at 4 p.m.
--Varsity Boys will follow.
The weather is currently being monitored and any further game changes will be updated accordingly.


Due to the threat of winter weather Quitman ISD will be releasing school at 2:00 pm. Car riders may be picked up at 2:00 pm. Buses will run at 2:00 pm. For safety, elementary students will NOT be released from the bus if a parent or guardian is NOT at home. If a parent or guardian is not at home the students will be returned to the High School Campus and may be picked up in the front office.
All extra curricular activities are cancelled.


Parents and Guardians: We are closely monitoring the weather conditions. We plan to continue school as normal today. Keeping our students safe is our top priority. Quitman ISD is now planning for the Gifted and Talented Education program for the 2023-2024 school year. The G/T program is designed for students with exceptional intellectual and creative thinking abilities. Anyone wishing to nominate a student attending Quitman ISD in kindergarten through eleventh grade is asked to go by the school office and request a copy of the nomination form. This form must be returned to the school by March 23.


The Quitman Bulldogs will be heading to Harmony tomorrow afternoon to take on the Eagles, beginning at 4 p.m. with the JV Girls. JV Boys, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys will follow.
Harmony High School will be holding a fundraiser for one of their own tomorrow evening. Jaedon Raiborn was recently diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma Cancer and has already begun treatment. Harmony will be collecting money for her medical treatments in between the Varsity Girls' and Varsity Boys' games. Bulldog fans are welcome to donate too, if you feel so inclined.

There will be a free vaccine clinic available to the public this Friday, January 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Quitman Public Library. Flu, Covid-19 and booster shots will be available.

QHS Seniors from the Health Science Senior Level Pharmacy Technician and Patient Care Technician courses completed certification training in "basic life support" this morning.
This "basic life support" certification brings them one step closer to their ultimate goals of Pharmacy Technician (PT) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) certifications. Students will be testing for these PT and PCT certifications towards the end of the school year.

SAVE THE DATE!
On February 27th, families will be invited to head to QES, grab a passport and explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). This first annual event will offer several stations with engaging activities for the whole family. Some of the special guests in attendance will be from Wood County Electric Cooperative, Northeast Texas Community College, and 4H. More details coming soon!

Quitman Independent School District is currently experiencing a phone outage, district-wide. We are working with our provider and hope to resolve the issue quickly.

Quitman Independent School District will be closed on Monday, January 16th, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. Classes will resume Tuesday, January 17th.

January is School Board Recognition Month and Quitman ISD is celebrating its trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students. Trustees will receive special recognition at the monthly school board meeting on Monday, January 9th, at 6 p.m.
